"Major" issues

yeah, having some "major" issues... been fighting with my mom about it... and she talked to my grandma who in turn talked to my aunt, who in turn wrote to me... so I wrote my aunt back.

heres a copy of my email (which I will preface with the fact taht I had brought up possibly getting a psych major to my mom and so my aunt's email started out with her utter disdain for that idea):

Ok, so I really actually don't want to be a psych major..I am way to paranoid to study mental illnesses as a profession because I am a huge hypochondriac and it would drive me crazy. I was not planning on going to grad school because I wasn't planning on using it in a clinical setting; it was going to be my second major that I was going to use to help further my first major, and if I failed at my first major miserably, I would be able to fall back on it by going to grad school. Honestly, what I really want to do is be a Television-Radio-Film (TRF) major; basically I want to get into the business of deciding programming, reviewing pilots, writing screenplays, etc. I know that this type of communications is considered "risky" but I think I will truly love doing it and have a passion for it. My mom considers this, i guess, a major for unmotivated/ stupid people... she likes to say "but you're so smart, you could be doing anything you want to do, you are just taking the easy way out. I know its hard to actually get into this field, but my school has such a high reputation for its communication department; its one of the top schools int he country for these majors and so many famous media people are a product of the Newhouse school of Public Communications. However, I know that dreaming isn't exactly practical, which is why currently I am pursing a BS in biology, as well as (hopefully) a BS in TRF. I think this may actually kill me though. Biology (or any science for that matter) has to follow such a rigid schedule is SO intense that I don't think its right for what I actually want to do. It looks to me that I will have to take about 20 credits per semester for the next 3.5 years to finish in time plus also taking credits in the summer and also giving up going abroad during the school year like my fellow students will be taking part in. I mean, I really love science. I am taking 3 science courses right now, including Intro to Neuroscience (which I find fascinating), yet I can't see myself doing this as a profession. I want a career that fufills me 20,30, 40 years down the line, and working in the TRF department looks to give me that future fufillment if I do succeed in it. I need a profession that involves interaction with people and though working in a lab seems fascinating, I believe that after awhile, I will get lonely. I can't be kept cooped up in a lab only to interact with others who too are locked into the lab. I need a fluid environment. My mom sees this view as immature and impractical; I see it as doing something that fufills you in ways that those who are stuck doing menial, hated jobs will never get to experience. I want to give myself the chance to atleast TRY to experience it. I know that I need to get a second major, I mean, communication jobs don't just fall out of the sky and you do need something to back it up. Currently I am still in the bio track, but I am also looking into Anthropology and other science-like majors that are both interesting yet do not have the overall looming/ rigidity of a straight forward "science" major. I mean, I could go for the BA in bio, but what would the point in that be? What can you do with a BA in bio, you can barely do something with a BS unless you get a PhD or become an MD. So, I am exploring my options. My mom doesn't seem to understand that; she sees the world in black and white while I see it in a multitude of grays. I find that no matter what I end up with, as long as I am not left with a feeling of regret, of not taking that chance, then I will be satisfied with whatever career my future holds for me.

So, I just saw "The Forgotten"-- this was not my idea by the way, it was my mom's. Yeah... so the reviews were right, the movie is poo. it starts out ok and then gets stupider and stupider until the end when you're like, why the heck did i just watch that movie. The ending is rediculous, its on par with The Village and Dreamcatcher. Lets just say, they phoned it in. And aren't thrillers supposed to be thrilling... there were like 3 jump moments in the whole movie and it was soo slow moving. boo

Also, it took me like 7 times to get into my account today, it kept saying i had the wrong password. It finally let me in when i got it emailed to me (and it was what i typed in) and then copied and pasted that into the password thing.

Yeah, so I made a COMPLETE fool out of myself in band today cuz i screwed up majorly on the A flat scale. I don't even know why i did that, I went home today and played the scale perfect!!! UGH!!!! I guess nerves, but I was sooooo mad at myself. I know i'm gonna be cut for districts. The sad thing is, scales is what i scored the highest on last year cuz i didn't make any mistakes. I only got a point off for doing the chromatic not up to speed (which is like nuts fast). I am maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad. boo me. :(

AHH! The senior districts music is sooo much harder this year than last year. Honestly it sounds like crap when i play it... like a jumble of notes. It has all these stupid rhythms that sound bad unless u play it perfectly. I can't play it at all...... i sound terrible. it just sounds like i'm playing a whole bunch of notes in random order.

So i was on IMDB, and i read an article saying that M. Night Shamalan was facing plagerism lawsuit about his movie The Village.... HAHAHAHA Char and Cait-- it was from that book's author!!!!! The book is Running Out of Time which i (and others) read in like 4th grade.. when i watched the movie it was like the EXACT same thing... like EXACTLY. Thats how i guessed the "twist ending" like 6 monthes in advance. I totally knew this would happen!!

So, last night I went to the "Almost July 4th" Celebration in Boston on the Charles (U know, the Pop's concert). It was pretty good, but they played the GODAWFUL song, "Stars and Stripes Forever" ugh. David Lee Roth performed there... lolol. he was flinging some sort of pole or something on stage.. I couldn't see it too well. lol. so basically i saw what will be on TV tonight, last night. WHOO. lol. My head hurts now. :( Ok, i gotta go. bye

Things annoy me. I'm hungry. Project took a long time to present-- Lemire looked tired/ annoyed.. I'm not sure what that means. Well, he kinda always looks like that. apparently i talked forever on the Tet Offensive-- I didn't even realize, I was rambling... when i get nervous, I can't even process my thoughts. Saved is gonna be in Tyngsboro, so yay! i can see it!! woo hoo.. why not Lowell? :( o well, Tyngsboro is close enough. My mom got into a car accident yesturday and can't drive her car cuz everytime u turn it on it sounds like its gonna explode or something. Shes maaaaaad. Last day of school tomorrow! Woo Hoo!

The world is offically out to get me. You know that CAR i was so excited about...? Guess what! Didn't get it after all!!!!!! So.. today, my mom went in to sign the registration papers, right? When she gets there, they ask her for the extra 2000 dollars. She's like, what 2000 dollars? They're like, the car is 6500. AUGH!!!!!!!!!! The girl helping me said this car was about 4000!!!!! SHE SAID IT! ITS NOT FAIR!!! They said they'd give it to her for 4500 without the warrenty and my mom said no cuz she wanted a warrenty. SHE SAID NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was sooooooooooo upset. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT. WHY IS THE WORLD OUT TO GET ME? THIS ALWAYS HAPPENS---JUST WHEN IM HAPPY SOMETHING HAPPENS TO SUCK ALL THE JOY OUT OF MY LIFE. i hate my life.

I GOT A CAR TODAY!!!! OMG!!!!!!!! Its a 2000 Chevy Lumina sedan.. its soo nice, & it drives really great. I can't pick it up until Wednesday, though, cuz my mom has to get it registered and it has to be cleaned again (like carwashed and vacuumed a little). then its gonna be SOO SPIFFY awesome. My mom got us a 3 year warrenty (2 years they gave to us, the 3rd she bought) I want to drive it! Freedom!!!!! I looooovvvvveeeee it. Its green!! (the color i wanted) WOO! I am soooooooooooooooooo excited. YAY!

Boston whoo

So... I went to boston for the last 2 days (and I'm going tomorrow) . I visited Northeastern today.. i thought it was really nice for an urban setting... u could barely tell it was in the middle of Boston. and there were food places EVERYWHERE!! No wonder why people get fat when they go to college. My feet were KILLING me. The freshmen dorms kinda suck, but once you're a sophmore you get suite style housing so that rules. I guess I could stand 1 year of crappy housing for the rest of the time in suite style. Suite=sweet lol. I'm still looking for a car though. I'm visiting BU tommorrow.. I hope it's as nice. Northeastern has an amazing Co-op program, so i could find a really awesome job while i'm still in school! lol. I'm kinda hungry even though i just ate dinner cuz my dinner was tiny. :( lol. thats all for now folks!

Ooo I finished Angels and Demons today.. It was rrrreeeaaallyyy good.. It was similar yet not to the Da Vinci Code. I barely could put it down.

I GOT MY LICENSE YESTURDAY!!!!! and the test was easy!! I can't drive until i get insured though and my mom doesn't want to insure me until she buys me a car cuz she doesn't want to have to insure my on her car cuz it costs more or something. poo! so hopefully, within the next few weeks i get a car.

I saw Kill Bill Vol 2 today and it was AWESOME!!!!!!! omg... like coolest movie ever type stuff. it was really violent (not as much as the first) but i didn't really mind.. It was really satirical and changed genres a lot, but thats what made it so darn funny. lol

um.. Boston on wednesday... I went to Cambrige today.. that was pretty fun.. I stepped in something and i was wearing my sandals and it felt it hit my toes. EWWW!! um... thats about it i guess.
